V for Vendetta (2002)

                                        

In the movie V for Vendetta we are introduced to a charter called code named 'V' the plot take place in the early 2030's where The United Kingdom has been infected by a deadly virus and the people of the country live in fear even from their own government which has a remarkable resembles to the Nazi Dictatorship we know of, When 'V' rescues a young woman from the hands of the secret police he destroys the 'Old Baily' and says one of the most famous quotes

- “Remember, remember the fifth of November of gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gun powder treason should ever be forgot.”

 'V' what we call a modern day activist in our days but with a more violent touch to him.The Movie was a Box Office .Throughout the movie we can see Inner Conflict of Evey Hammond as she is trying to find herself without knowing it and conquers success with the Help of 'V' We can also see Revolutionary Conflict of a Country , were one man encourages an entire nation to stand on their feet and stand up to their Government.

One of the most famous painting of all time the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci has been copied and printed so many times and used for commercial purposes , it has become something world wide recognized One street artist that caught my interest is banksy  

In this particular street art banksy has completely transformed the image and concepts of the mona lisa , the original Mona Lisa in my opinion conveys a feeling of calmness and the use of colors give it a certain warmth , were as in the street art of banksy it gives a sense of uncertainty as she is holding a weapon in hand and dressed in war clothing even the contrast of black and white used gives you sense extremity. Banky try s to convey a message about war and by using the streets he is trying to reach out to everyone who appreciates this form of art and understand the message he is trying to convey.

Not many people in this day and  age appreciate and accept street art but not many people did appreciate and accept world renowned artist like Matisse ,Manet & many others.

Tube Chair

In Ashley Baldwin Smith's which is famous for using recycled and found materials in her innovative designs .In the tube chair design we see a transformation from recycled materials to a new design which can be used both as sculptor and as a chair . we can not only see transformation in the materials used but also in design in my opinion Smith's Tube chair design has a very similar resemblance to Mies Van de Rohe 1927 chair 

                              

                     

We can see transformation from this classic design in the Mies Van de Roche 1927,chair where the tube is joined to make it seem like it one piece where as in the Ashley Baldwin Smith Design the recycled tubes are placed horizontally and welded together.

Whilst surfing in the net I came a cross a site called, MTH woodworks and immediately  fell in the love with the Bloom collection .The collection shows a transformation from old to new ,and the different materials used to transform something ordinary into something unordinary,

The large trunk base was salvaged form the Vancouver island , The salvaged trunk was transformed into a coffee table by adding materials it is a great conversation starter piece.

These pieces carved from red cedar trees they can be used for a multiple of purposes like a coffee table,stool or side table.Just like the coffee table above we can see a transformation from an ordinary wood trunk to a stylish multiple use piece. 

The table above is also made partly from salvaged red cedar inlays,which were merged with grey resin,the wood base is made from European beech and the feet are made from stainless steel, clearly there is a mixture of materials you can also say a conflict in materials but the product is also transformed from old salvaged wood into a new and fresh product.

Mr. Nobody (2009)

 

Mr.Nobody 

When first watching Mr.Nobody last year it stirred up a mix of emotions one of them being confusion.The Movie first sets of as the main Protagonist Nemo finds himself in the year 2092. 

Being 117 years of age as the last mortal human on earth, a young journalist approaches Nemo 

to Interview him about his life, 

The movie cuts to different stages of Nemo's life even to the time before birth. The movie has a different twist to it, as Nemo does not only tell the tale of one life but of a variety of his entire life. He shows the different possibilities of the outcome of his life by which in different situations he makes a different decision each time.

The movie is very interesting as you can clearly see the inner conflict of Nemo trying to decide which decisions he should make and which path he should go.

Jaco Van Dormael was the directer and writer for Mr. Nobody and in my point of view has done an outstanding job.  Mr.Nobody was first screened at the Venice film festival in 2009 and was later released in January of 2010 in France and Belgium
